Just 15 kilometres from historic Hue City, which is the capital of Thua Thien – Hue Province. There are daily flights by Vietnam Airlines from Hanoi (600kms) and Ho Chi Minh City (1080kms) to Phu Bai Airport. Guests are met on arrival and transferred to the resort. A shuttle service is available between the resort and Hue City is on a request basis. Hue City was the Imperial Capital of the Nguyen Dynasty between 1802 and 1945, until which time it was also the National Capital. During French occupation, the treasured monuments and architecture were respected, and despite the turbulent years of the 20th century, the many historic points of interest went significantly unscathed. Today, it has earned a place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The seat of the Nguyen Emperors was the Citadel, which occupies a large walled area on the north side of the Perfumed River. The Citadel protected the Forbidden Purple City where only the emperors, concubines and close associates were granted access. Ana Mandara Hue has put together some signature experiences for guests to explore the highlights of Hue and some exceptional off-the-beaten-track attractions. These private excursions also include a visit to the Tiger Arena – an Asian version of a Roman Coliseum, and the masterpiece of ancient architecture – Than Toan Bridge. Escape cliché excursions with an Ana Mandara Hue private car tour of Hue Region. Take a cyclo guided tour around the laneways, canals and corners of the town that only the locals know; enjoy coffee with them, lunch in typical restaurants and enjoy a gourmet picnic on a secluded beach. All this and so much more is possible for guests of Ana Mandara Hue. |
